Latest news. Drome to drome. We need your help! At Midnight on August 18th 2012, 24 members of the Bury Tandem Club for the Blind and Visually Impaired are cycling 190 miles, through the night. This sponsored challenge will raise much needed funds for their charity, which enables blind or visually impaired members to get out and enjoy weekly rides of 40 - 60 miles. |

They have been training hard all year and have increased the length of their weekly rides to enable them to complete the challenge. They will Cycle in relay across 6 stages from Manchester Velodrome to the new Velodrome at the Olympic village, London. 9 of these riders are blind or visually impaired and will cycle on the rear of the tandem, supported by our sighted front riders who make this possible. Everything we need is in place. We have the tandems, the riders, the support vehicles, the food and the enthusiasm. All we need now is sponsorship to make the event worth while by helping us raise the £7,000 it costs to run the Club each year. The annual costs go towards the maintenance of the tandems to ensure our riders are safe on the roads. Anything you can give will be gratefully received! To donate, you can go to:- or text BURY20 (and then the amount, for example) £10 to 70070 |
